been named Executive Director. Jolanda has served for several years on
the Foundation Board as well as the Parks and Recreation Advisory

Lincoln Parks Foundation Wins "My Community, My Choice" Challenge
In a fall 2007 Alltel wireless promotion, "Our Community, Our Choice,"
the Lincoln Parks Foundation won $15,000 after receiving the greatest
number of votes from Alltel customers, edging out Lincoln-Lancaster
County Habitat for Humanity and The Lincoln Food Bank, two very strong
nonprofits in the area. In addition, all three charities received

The Best Park Story - WINNERS ANNOUNCED!
The winners of the Lincoln Parks Foundation Best Park Story were announced at the Anniversary Celebration held on August 22 at the Sunken Gardens. Larry Beaty earned recognition as the top story with his essay titled "A Lifetime Stroll Through the Parks of Lincoln."

Lincoln Parks Foundation Wins Lincoln-Lancaster County Environmental Award
On Tuesday, June 5, Mayor Chris Buetler presented the Lincoln Parks Foundation with a Lincoln-Lancaster County Environmental Award at the awards luncheon held at the Nebraska Champions Club.
The Lincoln Parks Foundation was recognized for their efforts in renovation of Sunken Gardens in the category of clean up and beautification.
ANTELOPE PARK ROSE GARDEN RENOVATION CAMPAIGN REACHES ITS GOAL
The Lincoln Parks Foundation announced on Monday, May 7, 2007 that the $350,000 goal was reached. See Press Release.
Partnering with the Lincoln Parks Foundation and the Parks and Recreation Department, the Lincoln Rose Society led the campaign. A special thank you goes out to Don Hamann for helping kick this campaign in gear with a generous donation last spring.
Renovation on both, the formal and informal strolling gardens has begun. You can view the progress by visiting the renovation's Photo Book.
The formal garden will be under construction this year and re-opened in 2008 with over 100 varieties of roses, a climbing rose pavilion, new central fountain and more. The informal strolling garden will see minor modifications be opened in 2007 with hardy landscape roses, ornamental grasses and perennials.

Paving the Path - Summer Installation
If you ordered a paver for Sunken Gardens before April 25, 2007 and it has not yet been installed, you can expect it to be in place by late June of this summer.

Paving the Path. Two sizes of bricks are available for personal inscriptions that will be placed in the walkways of Sunken Gardens. More Information....
Bed of Roses. Rose beds in the soon-to-be renovated Antelope Park Rose Garden are available for sponsorship. A rose tile and plaque will be at the foot of each sponsored bed with the donor's choice of wording. A bed can hold anywhere from 12 - 20 roses. More Information....
Fountain Bricks. Once renovated, the new rose garden will display a central fountain surrounded by pavers in a rose formation. Bordering this display will be pavers, in two sizes, available for personal inscriptions. More Information....
Sunken Gardens - Ideal Wedding Location
Replanted every year with unique plants, color schemes and patterns, Sunken Gardens is a beautiful backdrop for a wedding. Each year, over 35 weddings take place in the Gardens - at the waterfall, under the pavilion or in the 'White Garden.'
