What is Lincoln Cares?
Lincoln Cares is a fun & affordable way to support parks & rec, city libraries, and aging partners for only $1 per month! Bolstered by matching funds from the private sector, including the Lincoln Parks Foundation, Lincoln Cares gives everyone a chance to do something a little extra to improve our community.
It's amazing what a dollar can do! From its inception in February 2003
through December 2011, Lincoln Cares has collected nearly $600,000
from LES customers who added a dollar to their bill payments. Nearly
4,000 LES customers donated to the program each month in 2011.
Additional contributions of nearly $500,000 have come from direct
donations to the Lincoln Parks Foundation and through partnerships
with Pepsi, Gallup, Lincoln Benefit Life, Olsson Associates and
Culver's Restaurants. The total for all collections since Lincoln
Cares began is about $1.1 million.

1. Simply add $1 to your LES bill payment each month. 2. Add Lincoln Cares to your automatic bill payment by calling LES at 475-4211. 3. Sign up for Autopay with this FORM. 4. | 2012 Lincoln Cares Projects & Sponsors
Nebraska's Centennial Mall $7,500 - A major renovation is planned for the seven-block Nebraska Centennial Mall, which connects the State Capitol to the University of Nebraska campus. Project Sponsor: Lincoln Parks Foundation
- Mendoza Park Shelter: $7,500
- Funds will provide for a neighborhood park picnic shelter in Mendoza Park near the Billy Wolff Trail. Project Sponsor: Vintage Heights Neighborhood Association
- Aging in Place program: $3,500
- Aging Partners provides access to services for people ages 60 and older. These services enhance independence and quality of life as seniors continue to live in their homes.
- Leading to Reading Spaces at Bennett Martin, Gere and Bethany libraries: $7,500
- Leading to Reading Spaces are educational places for young children to use special computers and developmentally appropriate toys which encourage literacy. Project sponsors: Foundation for Lincoln City Libraries, Dorothy Martin Fund and Woods Bros. Realty.
- Parker's Pals Scholarships: $10,000
- This fund provides scholarships to children from low-income families for swimming lessons and recreation programs. Project sponsors: State Farm Insurance, Lincoln Area Retired School Personnel and Olsson Associates
- Densmore Park Ballfield Shade Structure: $8,400
- The structure will be mounted over a bleacher in Densmore Park to provide shade and protection from foul balls for baseball spectators. Project Sponsor: Michael Sucha Memorial Fund/Annual Golf Tournament
- Billy Wolff Trail Solar Lighting: $7,500
- Sustainable, solar lighting will be placed along the new Billy Wolff trail connection south of Randolph Street. Project Sponsor: Great Plains Trails Network
