How We Work
The Parks Process
We’re a separate 501(c) 3 organization that partners with Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department. Here’s how we work with the City of Lincoln to make the most of your generosity.

The City prioritizes projects and updates.
The City of Lincoln creates a plan for upcoming parks and recreation projects, based on current needs and equitability standards. Everything is driven by a longer-term 10-year plan.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board guides projects.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board assists in long-range program development and makes recommendations to the Mayor and City Council through the Parks & Recreation Director.

Lincoln Parks and Recreation requests fundraising support.
Sometimes, the city needs help funding specific projects or capital campaigns. Other times, emergencies or special needs arise. That’s where we come in.

We raise funds.
We find like-minded donors to help fund projects. General donations fund areas of greatest need, whether that’s a new park for an underserved area of town or updates to make a park accessible for kids with disabilities.

The city completes projects.
Your donation is directed to the City of Lincoln to complete projects and improve parks in Lincoln for all!
About Donor-Inspired Projects
Most of our work supports city-led projects, but sometimes donors can impact the process. If you’d like to fundraise for a specific project or cause, here’s how it works:
1
Share your idea with us.
2
We’ll share the project with Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department. If needed, they’ll take it to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
3
If the project is approved, we’ll work with you on the process of fundraising.
