Lincoln is the proud home of 125+ neighborhood parks and 131+ miles of trails which are important to our strong quality of life. Families and individuals of every age and from each section of our city’s diverse neighborhood tapestry enjoy spending time in our beautiful public spaces for entertainment, recreation, and wellness.

Program Purpose & Grant Eligibility.

The mini-grant program was established to incentivize new and expand existing volunteer efforts within the parks and recreation system. Neighborhood associations, businesses, civic groups, youth groups, running clubs, and any other group or individual is eligible to apply for mini grants.

Project Eligibility.

Mini-grants will fund projects identified by grant applicants, the Lincoln Parks Foundation, or the Lincoln Parks & Recreation Department. All grants must enhance the usage of existing parks, trails, and public spaces or provide infrastructure improvements. Mini grants may only support projects on public land. Projects on private land are not eligible.

Designation Information & Charitable Status

The following information is provided for your convenience and should be shared with your attorney and or your estate planning professional. The proper name to use for a beneficiary designation in a will, trust, life insurance or annuity contract, retirement plan, investment, or bank account is Lincoln Parks and Recreation Foundation, a tax-exempt organization (Tax ID 36-3853746). The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Foundation is a recognized 501(c)3 organization under the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended. You are encouraged to seek professional tax advice for personal income tax questions and assistance.

Sample Language for Wills and Trusts

To direct a gift to the Lincoln Parks Foundation, you may consider utilizing the following language:

"I hereby give and bequeath to the Lincoln Parks and Recreation Foundation of Lincoln, Nebraska a specific gift of $0.0(insert specific dollar amount) or 0.0%(insert specific percentage or direct entirety of residuary estate by inserting 100%) of my estate(or residuary estate) to support the mission of the organization for the following specific purpose(insert specific purpose such as support for a specific garden, park, or human service program).

Different types and levels of recognition exist within the context of specific programming initiatives. Additionally, special designations can be made for extraordinary gifts and we are eager to work with you to appropriately recognize your generous gift in accordance with your wishes.
